Saving Abel To Release MISS AMERICA On June 8
SAVING ABEL TO RELEASE MISS AMERICA ON JUNE 8
LEAD SINGLE “STUPID GIRL (ONLY IN HOLLYWOOD)”
AN INSTANT HIT VIA MASSIVE RADIO AND VIDEO AIRPLAY
New York, NY --- Virgin Records will release
Saving Abel’s
MISS AMERICA on June 8, 2010. The follow-up to the band’s breakthrough debut has reached critical mass via strong support at radio, adds at key video channels, widespread positioning at retail, and a world tour that has been underway for three months. The lead single “Stupid Girl (Only In Hollywood)” is flying up the rock charts, currently bulleted at 13, while the accompanying video is in rotation on MTV2.
MISS AMERICA has been selected for the coveted Wal-Mart Sound Check Program, yielding 150 million impressions, and will be positioned at every retailer under the sun on street date. The video for “Stupid Girl (Only In Hollywood)” is all over broadcast, cable and the Internet. Much like past successes which yielded a combined 100 million plus plays, this clip is on its way to establishing the face of Saving Abel following a Yahoo premiere, rotation at MTV2, and music homepage placement on YouTube.
In front of the imminent release of
MISS AMERICA, guitarist Scott Bartlett shares, “There is always anticipation when it comes to the release of a new record. You're nervous, excited, and vulnerable. The key is to remember that this is rock and roll and those emotions don't matter once the record is done. We roll the dice and the game begins. We couldn't be more proud of the way it turned out. Now it's up to the public. Get ready.” Guitarist Jason Null adds, “It's been a great past 2 1/2 years and we've been very blessed with the success of the first record. With that said, we are really proud of this album. Every song on Miss America is special to us, and each has a purpose for being on there. I love this record and everything about it, our story down to the cover art.”
The quintet continues their current world tour which has, over the past several months, touched down in India, Qatar, Kuwait, and Iraq (via a USO / Armed Forces Entertainment tour of the Persian Gulf), extensively across the U.S., and in the middle of the Pacific Ocean aboard the USS Carl Vinson as the vessel returned from Haiti. On why
MISS AMERICA was chosen as the title of the upcoming release, Singer Jared Weeks shares, “Having just returned from our USO tour of Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar, we all seemed to be on the same page when it came to naming the album. Just being out there with those men and women who do so much for us and the country we live in, we really wanted to give them something back. So for all of us,
MISS AMERICA was the perfect name, for a perfect situation. The message of the song is simple - it tells a story of a soldier writing home to his mom, family, wife, and kids. Throughout the song you get the feeling of what it is like to be so far away from your home, your life, and your loved ones, but still having to soldier up and do what you came there to do. It offers the message of not giving up, not losing love, and not running away. We are hoping that this song and our second album
MISS AMERICA will spark a fire in some people, and maybe cause a wave of support for all our men and women in the service.”
The release of
MISS AMERICA continues one of the great artist development stories of the past several years. The debut yielded multiple hits, one of which “Addicted,” was the most played song of 2008 at rock radio and Top 10 at Modern Rock, Top 40, Hot AC and additional formats. Follow-up singles “18 Days” and “Drowning (Face Down)” hit the Top 5. The album was certified gold for sales exceeding 500,000 by the RIAA, with over two million digital singles sold, alongside over a million ringtones of “Addicted.”

Sick Puppies, Saving Abel ready to rock MIS
Concerts set for June 12-13 and August 14
BROOKLYN, Mich. — Sick Puppies and Saving Abel headline an amazing concert lineup for Michigan International Speedway’s Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 weekend, June 12 and 13.
Australian alternative rock trio Sick Puppies will headline the Saturday night concert in the New Holland Fan Plaza on June 12. The performance on the LifeLock stage will begin shortly after the VFW 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.
Sick Puppies is supporting its third album, the appropriately named “Tri-Polar,” which debuted at No. 31 on The Billboard 200 album chart. The first single, “You’re Going Down,” was used by World Wrestling Entertainment as the official theme song for the pay-per-view event “Extreme Rules 2009.”
The group has been touring with Nickelback and Shinedown this summer.
“Our spirit comes together when we're on-stage," says bass player Emma Anzai. “When we get ready to go out on stage, we're like gladiators entering the arena.”
Mark Goodwin, drummer, added: “I can't wait to play at Michigan International Speedway," he said. “If there's anything that people should know, it's that we're all about playing live.”
And in an MIS first, the track presents a post-race concert on Sunday, June 13. Southern rock band Saving Abel will perform following the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400. The concert will begin about 30 minutes following the checkered flag of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race, also on the LifeLock stage in the New Holland Fan Plaza.
“We’re excited to bring two free concerts to our guests during the June race weekend —one on Saturday and one on Sunday,” speedway President Roger Curtis said. “This is a first for us to try a Sunday concert post-race and I can’t think of a better way to wind down the June event and get ready for August than with Saving Abel.”
Saving Abel will be at MIS in June to support its sophomore album “Miss America” in stores June 8. The group is doing a major ticket promotion to bring VIP fans to the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400. Fans can register to win a trip to MIS in June by logging onto www.savingabel.com.
Along with the post-race concert, the band will also play a couple of acoustic songs in Budweiser Acceleration, the track’s fan hospitality club. Tickets for Budweiser Acceleration are on sale.

Known for such hits as “Addicted,” “18 Days” and “Drowning (Face Down),” Saving Abel has also been signed to play during the August 13-15 Show Me the CARFAX Weekend at MIS. The popular Saturday night concert in Lot 10 has always been a crowd staple and fan favorite at MIS.
Nestled in the lush Irish Hills of Southeastern Michigan, Michigan International Speedway is the Great Escape, a venerable NASCAR national park where fans can get away and enjoy the very best in racing and camaraderie. It’s the love of racing and the thrill of a great time for race fans and drivers alike.

ARLINGTON, VA. – Rock band
Saving Abel re-teams with the USO and boards the USS Carl Vinson as part of a USO concert at sea April 11. Spreading cheer to sailors returning from a three-month deployment at sea, the band rocked out with troops and jump-started the ship’s return to the states. Atop 6-foot waves and 13 miles-per our winds, the band entertained more than 2,000 sailors. Footage from the USO show will be broadcast online in late Spring/early Summer.
Details:
· Airlifted to an undisclosed location in the Pacific Ocean on April 11, the band mingled with troops, performed a 90-minute USO concert and spent the night with sailors. This is Saving Abel’s second USO tour.
· Avid supporters of the U.S. military, Saving Abel traveled to Kuwait and Iraq in late February, and participated in an eight-day USO tour. The band visited four bases and touched the lives of more than 4,800 troops. Footage from the group’s concert at Camp Arifjan was later streamed online with help from Ustream. The show was viewed by more than 9,600 fans.
· Known for such hits as “Addicted,” “18 Days” and “Drowning (Face Down),” the band released their self-titled debut album in ’08 and are scheduled to release their sophomore album

· While in route to its new home, the USS Carl Vinson was deployed to Haiti to conduct humanitarian assistance and disaster response missions. The ship arrived off the coast of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti on Jan. 15 – equipped with 3,200 troops, 19 helicopters and support equipment from five different East Coast Navy squadrons.
· After spending three weeks in Haiti, the USS Carl Vinson participated in “Operation Southern Seas 2010,” a U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command Partnership of the Americas.
Virgin Records has announced the release of Saving Abel’s
MISS AMERICA on June 8, 2010. The Corinth, Mississippi-based act released their self-titled debut album on March 11, 2008, which just one year and five days later was certified gold by the RIAA. Singles which included “Addicted,” “18 Days,” and “Drowning (Face Down),” cumulatively sold millions of digital downloads. The lead single from
MISS AMERICA, “Stupid Girl (Only in Hollywood),” impacts Active and Modern Rock radio on April 19th.
On why
MISS AMERICA was chosen as the title of the upcoming release, singer Jared Weeks shares, “’Miss America’ is actually a song on the album that Saving Abel co-wrote with Marty Fredrickson. Although we didn’t believe we would release it as a single, we felt that we needed to bring more attention to the song and its’ message. Having just returned from our USO tour of Iraq, Kuwait and Qatar, we all seemed to be on the same page when it came to naming the album. Just being out there with those men and women who do so much for us and the country we live in, we really wanted to give them something back. So for all of us,

In 2008, the band paid homage to military families stationed abroad by filming their hit song “18 Days” on the USS Hornet, the San Francisco-based naval carrier that won nine battle stars for her service in WWII. That same year, the group raised awareness of U.S. veterans with a benefit concert broadcast on MTV.
Known for such memorable hits as “Addicted,” “18 Days" and "Drowning (Face Down)” the band released their self-titled debut album in ’08 and are scheduled to release their sophomore album in Summer of ’10.
